Where we began
The Trailer
Before the bus there was the trailer: a little coffee cart on the lawn of the Somerville House Water Sports Facility on the Brisbane Corso, with umbrellas, a red cafe banner and a chalkboard menu. Baladi started here in July 2019.
Farah baked, Anton poured, and the Corso community showed up every morning until the trailer couldn't keep up. In March 2022 a London double-decker made the trip from Adelaide to Brisbane, and the trailer handed over to the bus.
Same spot, same family, same Renegade Roasters coffee. Just a lot more seats.
Our coffee, then and now
Our coffee has always come from local roaster Renegade Roasters.
They source their beans from a range of ethical coffee plantations throughout the Coffee Belt that grow high quality coffee without exploiting labour or the land. Farmers are paid a fair price for their crops, which helps to improve the quality of life for both the farmers and their families.
$1 from the sale of every kilogram of coffee goes to help coffee growers make investments that improve their practices and quality of life. We love supporting the Renegade Roasters team and being a part of their community.
